Let the Children Play
A
Canada-wide project to provide soccer balls and other sports and school
equipment for use in poor and war affected countries. We will collect used
balls and other equipment as well as cash to purchase new Fair Trade certified
soccer balls and education supplies, for schools, orphanages, refugee camps
and community youth programs.
A project of the YSC Fair World Sports.
You can help children enjoy just being children, having
fun, playing soccer or going to school, despite poverty, AIDS, hunger and
family displacement. Photos below.
Your group can organize a series of special events
such as Fair Trade soccer tournaments, soccer demonstrations and the collection
of used soccer balls and other sports and educational equipment as well
as cash donations.
Support groups working with children and young
people who may have been orphaned by AIDS or who have contracted AIDS,
who are frustrated by the lack of education and jobs and who are losing
hope that their life will ever be better.
All funds raised will go to schools, YMCAs, orphanages
and refugee camps, wherever children need some joy and hope in their lives.
You can also help send new Fair Trade soccer balls and help end the exploitation
of children as workers, so that they too can play.
The soccer balls and other equipment collected will
be given to your chosen international project, involving children in poor
and war affected countries.
A new or used soccer ball is an amazing gift to children
who may never have seen a real soccer ball but play with leaves or
plastic bags tied up with string.
Here are reactions from previous
donations.
